MANASSAS, VA—Donna Snellings, Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative's community liaison, will begin serving a three-year term on the board of directors of the Prince William Chapter of the American Red Cross starting July 1, 2007.

Serving on the American Red Cross board will give me the opportunity to help families that live in our community who need immediate help, usually from disasters," said Snellings. "My family and I and our neighbors may need these services in the future, therefore I want to contribute to our chapter's stability."

Snellings has been active in many Prince William community and business organizations. In 2006, she served as chairman of the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce. She has served on the chamber's Valor Committee for ten years. The chamber awarded her their Key Award for exemplary service in 1998.

Snellings has worked with the Prince William County Education Foundation for more than five years, including as president in 2004. She has served on the Board of Directors for the county's Library Foundation and currently is an honorary board member. She was selected to serve on the county's Economic Development Strategic Planning Committee in 2002.

Snellings has lived in the county since 1975. She has worked for NOVEC since 1989 and currently works in the electric cooperative's public relations department.
