MANASSAS, Va. — The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative is asking area residents to donate non-perishable food to its Operation Turkey food drive to help feed low-income people in Prince William County this Thanksgiving.
NOVEC will accept non-perishable food donations Nov. 3 through Nov. 16 at its Manassas and Minnieville offices. Securing Emergency Resources through Volunteer Efforts, Inc., and Action in Community Through Service will distribute the food to people who need assistance. Anyone requiring a receipt must drop donated items at the SERVE or ACTS locations.
Donna Snellings, NOVEC public relations liaison, says, “NOVEC realizes many people right now in our area are unemployed or have low incomes. Food donated to Operation Turkey will help make Thanksgiving more joyful for these struggling families and individuals. It’s the cooperative way of helping people in our community.”
Suggested Food Items
Breads and muffin mixes, Bisquick, instant mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, boxed desserts, sugar, evaporated milk, pie crusts and canned vegetables, fruits, pie filling, gravy, and canned meats.
