Clifton Car Show and Chili Cook Off

Custom Cruisers of Northern Virginia and the Clifton Lions Club will hold the 10th annual Labor Day Car Show and Chili Cook Off on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the historic town of Clifton, Va. NOVEC is co-sponsoring the events. All proceeds will go to local charities.

“It’s an open show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” says Jim Chesley, Clifton’s former mayor. Visitors will see street rods and machines, customs, antiques, muscle cars, classics, and motorcycles.”

The Fairfax County Police Honor Guard will participate at noon, followed by a fly-over by a police helicopter.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The fee is $15. A participant who pre-registers by Aug. 22 will pay $10 and have a chance to win one of two $25 cash drawings. Owners of the first 250 show vehicles will receive dash plaques. Participants will also have a chance to win door prizes, "Participant Pick" awards, and specialty trophies.

Chesley says, “There’ll be great music and food, including chili at the Richard King Memorial Chili Cook Off.”

The cook off will be held at The Barn, 7139 Main Street, Clifton. Smallwood and Friends, Slider, and The Lost Highway Band will perform from noon until 5 p.m.
