On June 5 and 6, NOVEC HELPS participated in two Relay for Life events, the Prince William and Fauquier Counties sites. Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society largest national fundraising event that supports the research for finding a cure for cancer.
Prince William
Relay for Life at the Manassas Fairgrounds began on Sat., June 5, 2010 and ended on Sun. June 6, 2010. Captain Ginger Hamlin and her family prepared for the overnight stay. Team member, Donna Snellings stated, "raising money to find a cure for cancer, makes tolerating the heat for this event worthwhile. My husband is a cancer survivor, so this event hits close to home."
The event raised more than $90,000.
Fauquier County
Relay for Life at Fauquier High School also began on Sat. June 5 and ending on Sun. June 6.
Team Captain, Pat Wilcox stated, "I want to thank everyone for their help, support and donations to the NOVEC HELPS's team for the Fauquier Relay for Life. Our team collected over $1300.00 in donations." The Fauquier Relay for Life raised over $203,000.00.
Of course what is Relay without a little rain. "We had a short rain shower Saturday night."
