NOVEC Helps Make the Season Bright for Disadvantaged Neighbors
NOVEC employees bring holiday cheer to disadvantaged neighbors by participating in five local programs: Un-Trim-A-Tree Holiday Program in Prince William County, the GRADS program at Stonewall Jackson High School, Fauquier County Family Shelter, Stafford County Adopt-A-Family program, and Birmingham Green nursing home in Manassas.
Un-Trim-A-Tree
Sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of the Voluntary Action Center, the Un-Trim-A-Trim Holiday Program provides gifts for thousands of disadvantaged children up to age 15 and seniors 55 years and older. The program also provides baskets of holiday food for low-income families.
GRADS Program at Stonewall Jackson High School
NOVEC provides gifts to the children participating in the GRADS program at Stonewall Jackson High School. The GRADS program helps teen parents pursue high school diplomas by providing affordable and accessible child care, while teaching parenting and self-sufficiency skills.Cooperative employees provided diapers, baby toys and necessities for the children.
Fauquier Family Shelters
NOVEC employees provide gifts to families living at the shelter during the Holidays.
Stafford County Adopt-A-Family Program
NOVEC employees at the Minnieville and Stafford offices participate in the Stafford County Adopt-A-Family program.
Birmingham Green
NOVEC hosts a party for the residents at the Birmingham Green nursing home on Dec. 8. NOVEC's own "Santa Cullen" and employees sing carols and give gifts to residents.
