Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) is currently recruiting for a Cashier/Receptionist to join our team!  This position is responsible for receiving and processing payments on customer accounts, meeting and greeting customers and NOVEC visitors. 


Essential Duties will include, but are not limited to:

·Handling all money transactions received through walk in customers, mail and employees. Balancing cash drawer and reporting any discrepancies to supervisor.

·Collecting and compiling accounting reports for funds collected and make daily deposits to bank. Collections to include scheduling service orders, assisting field service technicians and the Customer Service Center, as needed.

·Analyzing accounts and scheduling service orders for returned checks. Providing monthly statistical information on Field Service Technicians to the Supervisor, Field Services.

·Greeting customers and visitors and ensuring appropriate level of service is provided according to their needs. Utilizing company intranet to obtain appropriate level of information for customers/visitors.

·Reviewing and interpreting data from the customer information system to determine action needed when posting payments. Utilizing MS Office products to manage inquiries received from the Customer Service Center and to prepare payment information reports.

·Researching and resolving rejected payment issues for Lockbox, Checkfree, Online Resources, Metavante and ACH payments.

·Interacting with customers in a professional manner and providing accurate and clear information.



High School Diploma or GED required.  Additionally training/education in general accounting preferred.  One (1) year of experience in a customer-service oriented position is required.

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:

While performing the duties of this job there is an extreme amount of time spent talking on a telephone or radio device to internal and external customers, sitting, use of vision to detect color, reading, and when utilizing a computer; handling paperwork and money, hearing, and using fine dexterity on a computer keyboard, telephone keypad or calculator. There is a moderate amount of time spent reaching for supplies and twisting from computer to telephone.  There is a minimal amount of time spent standing, carrying or lifting equipment/materials, kneeling, pushing and pulling; climbing stairs, bending and crouching. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent will routinely lift or exert force of up to 10 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds unassisted.

There is an extreme amount of exposure to conditions requiring motor coordination such as machine operation and use of hand/power tools. There is a minimal amount of exposure of physical efforts through standing, walking, climbing, or kneeling in high precarious places. There is an extreme amount of exposure to quietness such as private office and a limited amount of exposure to moderate noise such as office equipment.
