NORTHERN VIRGINIA – The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative wants to return money to more than 60,000 former Cooperative members through its CashBack program. CashBack returns profit margin funds based on the financial health of the Cooperative to NOVEC customer-owners each year.

In September 2006, NOVEC’s board of directors voted to return $12.25 million to current and former customer-owners.  Current NOVEC members received their refunds as CashBack credits on their September 2006 bills. NOVEC mailed checks to former members; the U.S. Postal Service returned undeliverable mail.

To see if they have a returned refund available, former members should visit www.novec.com at any time and click on CashBack.  To make a claim for funds, complete the online form.

Unclaimed refunds are managed in accordance with Article XII of the Cooperative Bylaws—Donated Capital. The assignment and gift provided for under this section shall become effective only upon expiration of one year from the date when such payment was made available to such member or former member without claim therefore and after further expiration of 120 days following the giving of notice by mail or publication.
