LEESBURG, Va. — Join the March of Dimes at Red Hot & Blue in Leesburg to cook up funds for WalkAmerica. The local restaurant will donate 15 percent of food sales (including take out) from 4 p.m. to closing on February 6, 2005—Super Bowl Sunday—to support Loudoun County’s WalkAmerica.

While enjoying Red Hot & Blue’s famous Memphis-style pork ribs, “pulled” pork shoulder, chicken and catfish, you can also spend time with the Hogettes, bid on silent auction items and win raffle prizes—including a framed photo signed by the Hogettes. Other auction and raffle items are being donated by event sponsor Dulles Town Center. The big game can be viewed on TVs throughout the restaurant.

Red Hot & Blue’s regular menu items will be available, as well as a $12.99 buffet offering wings, sausage & cheese, pulled pork, potato salad, beans, cole slaw and banana pudding. Please place all take-out orders for parties of six or more people at least 72 hours in advance. The proceeds will still go to WalkAmerica. The restaurant is located at 541 E. Market Street in Leesburg. Contact Red Hot & Blue at 703-669-4242.

The March of Dimes will be the most recent recipient of the charitable outreach on which Red Hot & Blue prides itself. “We understand the importance of being involved in the community, and this is a great way for people to help out this local charity,” says Red Hot & Blue President & Co-Founder Robert Friedman.

WalkAmerica is the largest annual fund raiser for the March of Dimes and supports lifesaving research and innovative programs that save babies from prematurity, birth defects and other infant health problems. Nearly half a million walkers participate in WalkAmerica nationwide.

The effects of March of Dimes research resonates throughout Loudoun County. The National Capital Area Chapter awarded a $22,400 for InMed/MotherNet Loudoun Grant, a project that supports outreach efforts for childbearing Hispanic women and babies in Loudoun County. This grant is named for one of the county’s top walkers, Rick Froelich, Chief Financial Officer of Dulles Greenway and Honorary Chairman of Loudoun County’s WalkAmerica Committee. These services help improve the birth outcomes of at least 25 at-risk women and babies.

The 2005 Loudoun County WalkAmerica event is Sunday, May 1st at Ida Lee Park in Leesburg. Last year, more than 400 people participated in Loudoun County’s WalkAmerica, raising $81,000. Anyone interested in forming a walk team or corporate sponsorship opportunities may contact:
