NORTHERN VIRGINIA – The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative and the Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) have awarded in recent weeks college scholarships to high school seniors in Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford counties, and in the City of Manassas Park.

Dollars for Scholars Winners
The selection committees for NOVEC’s Dollars for Scholars program chose scholarship winners from more than 100 applicants. They based selection criteria on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service, work experience, and demonstrated leadership qualities. Winners received $1,500 scholarships.

“The Dollars for Scholars program helps students fulfill their desire for a college education,” says Donna Snellings, NOVEC public and government relations liaison.  “The scholarship program signifies NOVEC’s commitment to the education of students in our communities.”

After making selections, the committees conducted a second review to select the most outstanding student.  They awarded to Alexis Simpson the $1,500 Garber Scholarship (named for J.
