NORTHERN VIRGINIA—The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative is running a food drive called Operation Turkey to help feed needy families in Prince William County this Thanksgiving.
NOVEC will accept non-perishable food donations Nov. 3 through Nov. 17 at the Manassas and Minnieville offices. Securing Emergency Resources Through Volunteer Efforts, Inc., and Action in Community Through Service will distribute the food to people who need assistance in Prince William County. Anyone requiring a receipt must drop donated items at the SERVE or ACTS locations.
Donna Snellings, NOVEC community liaison, says, “NOVEC continues to follow the cooperative way of helping those in need in our communities by participating in worthy causes such as Operation Turkey.”
Suggested Food Items
Canned vegetables and meats, boxed muffin and bread mixes, Bisquick, instant mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, sweet potatoes, applesauce, boxed desserts, canned fruit, gravy, sugar, canned pie filling, evaporated milk and graham cracker pie crusts.
