Cindy Gilbride - District 1
Cynthia Gilbride, a NOVEC member since 1980, is running for reelection for the District 1 seat, to represent members who live in northern Centreville and parts of Chantilly, Herndon, and Sterling. The native Northern Virginian graduated from George Mason University with a business administration degree. She retired in 2019 after serving in the federal government for more than 23 years.
NOVEC members elected Gilbride to the board of directors in 1998. Since then, she has served as chairperson of the Compensation Committee, and on the Audit and Budget, Facilities/Land, Policy/Bylaws, Member and Government Relations, and Power Supply committees. In addition, she has served on the Executive Committee as treasurer.
In 2004, Gilbride began serving on the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives Educational Services Committee and on the Education Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors. She received her Credentialed Cooperative Director certificate in 2004, completed her Board Leadership Certification in 2014, and her Director Gold Certification in 2016.
Gilbride has served on her homeowners association board of trustees and helped to organize special events in her community. Other community service efforts include volunteering to help Scouting America, PTA, local swim team, neighborhood watch, Youth for Tomorrow, and high school athletic teams.
Gilbride and her husband, Paul, live in Centreville. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.
