NORTHERN VIRGINIA — The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative introduced in December 2009 a new tool on its Web site, www.novec.com, that will allow builders, developers, and customer-owners to track NOVEC’s progress as it connects new businesses and homes to the electric power distribution system.

According to Roger Abel, manager, Electric System Development, “Each job is assigned a unique work request number in the Co-op’s work management information system. With the new service, construction crews, job site managers, and people who have been given the work request number can track the status of a job on NOVEC’s Web site.”

Abel instructs builders, developers, and customers to log onto www.novec.com and click on “Work Request Job Status” under the “Customer Services” tab. They will see the progress of their jobs after submitting their work request numbers.

The new status tool applies only to new construction. Customers who want information about connecting or disconnecting service at existing structures should call NOVEC customer service at 703-335-0500 or 1-888-335-0500.

NOVEC is a not-for-profit electric utility corporation that supplies and distributes electricity and energy-related services to more than 180,000 metered customers in Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford, and Clarke counties, the Town of Clifton, and the City of Manassas Park. It is Virginia’s largest electric cooperative and one of the largest electric companies of its kind in the nation. Learn more at novec.com, or call 703-335-0500.
