MANASSAS, Va. — Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) has awarded $1,500 scholarships to 12 high school seniors across its service territory. An independent panel of judges evaluated applicants based on academic records, community involvement, demonstrated leadership, and recommendations.
Jordan Fischer, graduate of Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School in Prince William County, received a scholarship designated for a student who will be attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Judged the most outstanding scholarship applicant, Fischer also received an additional $3,500 as the winner of the J. Manley Garber Scholarship. The award is named for the late NOVEC Board of Directors chairman. Fischer will attend Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
