NOVEC receives high J.D. Power score among largest U.S. electric utilities

The Co-op scores highest in D.C. region

MANASSAS, Va. Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative has received the second highest score in customer satisfaction among the nation’s 138 largest electric utilities in the J.D. Power and Associates 2017 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM released on July 12, 2017. 

NOVEC scored 788 points in overall customer satisfaction, one point shy of the 789 points SECO in Sumterville, Florida, scored. NOVEC received the highest score in the U.S. in “Professionalism of Utility Employees,” first in communications, second in power quality and reliability, price, and customer service, and third in corporate citizenship. The average score for the study’s 138 companies was 719 on a 1,000-point scale.

The research company based its findings on responses from almost 100,000 online interviews conducted from July 2016 through May 2017.

The study asked customers of large and midsize utilities in the South, East, Midwest, and West geographic regions to respond to questions regarding their utility’s power quality and reliability, price, billing and payment, corporate citizenship, communications, and customer service. J.D. Power ranked electric cooperatives in a separate category.

In all, the 138 utility brands serve more than 98 million households.
