NORTHERN VIRGINIA — Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative was one of the first utilities in the country to offer a mobile version of its website, and now the Cooperative offers another first in the form of smartphone applications.
The free native applications for both iOS and Android devices allow customers to log in, view account information, read news releases, report an outage, or contact the Co-op directly. Communications Specialist and Application Creator John Roy says the NOVEC app is another way customer-owners can communicate with their Co-op.
“I thought it would great for us to create an app that would make it easy for people to report outages or view their accounts,” states Roy.
The mobile app is intended to provide added convenience and information to customers and is offered as-is. During extreme weather or emergencies, the Co-op encourages customers to use all available communication methods to report outages and receive up-to-date restoration information. NOVEC’s mobile website is also available; the Cooperative posts on the home page of its website outage information for the local news media and for customers.
“In the future, we hope to add more features to our apps,” Roy notes. Search for NOVEC in the iTunes App Store or Google Play Android marketplace and download the app for your device. More information is also available at www.novec.com/Contact_Us/apps.cfm.
