NOVEC is working to restore power as snow falls

MANASSAS, Va. — Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative, contract, and out-of-state crews have restored power to more than 20,000 NOVEC customers since Monday morning, December 9, when ice-ladened trees and branches fell on power lines. A major Dominion Virginia Power transmission line has failed, resulting in power outages to more than 20,000 NOVEC customers. According to Larry Shaffer, vice president, Operations, the transmission line failed just before 7 a.m. The Dominion line delivers power to 8 NOVEC substations in Prince William and Stafford counties. Dominion Virginia Power is aware of the outage and is working to restore the transmission line to service, but is currently unable to provide an estimated restoration time.... >>Read More

(Skip) Albrite, Jr. to serve on the NOVEC board of directors at NOVEC’s annual meeting on September 18 at Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Va. Albrite, a self-employed businessman, will represent Co-op members who live in District 8, which includes southern Prince William County, Stafford County, and Fauquier County. NOVEC biomass plant successfully generates electricity in test

MANASSAS, Va. -- Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative and NOVI Energy announce that the NOVEC Energy Production, Halifax County Biomass* (NEPHCB) plant that the two companies have been working on together near South Boston, Va., generated its first electricity and connected to the PJM regional electric transmission grid on Sept. 11, 2013, at 11:11 a.m. during testing. Instead of having to log onto two websites, customers can log onto www.novec.com, click on “My Account” on the home page, type his or her user name and password, and pay online through e-Billing.
